     Bargaining Update: June 14 2022 Wage Delegates meeting was held in Crofton to agree on Protocol for Bargaining with Catalyst Unions and Jim Dixon National

Catalyst Bargaining set to Begin in Nanaimo July 25 to 30 2022 Involving all Catalyst Unions as a group and combined vote as per our special meetings & vote. HR Richard  Demchuk is the company lead.


Bargaining Update July 29, 2022

After one week of negotiations we are able to report, that negotiations have been respectful and are proceeding well.

Our next set of bargaining dates are on Aug 16, 17 2022 in Nanaimo.

Your bargaining committee has hit an issue at bargaining that we are struggling to find a way around. Additional dates for bargaining have been schedule for September 12, 13,  2022

and we will keep you updated as we progress.

Still working in the Mill #20 this week numbers change from week to week based on task assignment. Wage Delegates will meet with Employer at Adjustment meeting on Dec 12, 2022. We will continue to meet and discuss work going forward on Contracting out issues to protect our rights to any and all work on the mill site!

We have started Payroll Reconciliation for Powell River on November 10, 2022. As we work through our list with employer of payroll issues and grievances. We are hoping it will not be an issue to collect Severance as the company has agreed with us and is working on resolving our issues. We have had discussions with Vince Lucas National Rep involvement with HR PE Curtis Jeffrey. We believe they are trying to treat us respectfully and fairly.

Second HEO Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate Program VIU course & Work BC

8 openings for full 17-week course 10 weeks essential skills training in Powell River

 Oct 11 to Dec 16 in PR. Then to Ladysmith for 9 weeks Jan 2, 2023 to March 10, 2023. VIU Training facility Course certification in road builder & Heavy construction Foundation, and Heavy Equipment Operator of qualification and certificate of Apprenticeship. ITA recognized certificates.

Laptops provided to all participants.

Work clothes, PPE and school supplies provided

Following 8 weeks March 13, 2023 to May 5, 2023

Local Work Experience on Tla’amin Nation projects, clearing land for housing.
